MRL Productions helps Jurassic Pier go out with a bang

Dinosaurs, fireworks, lasers and music.

It's not your average Sunday night on Clacton Pier.

In May 2023, Clacton Pier prepared to open its new £500,000 Jurassic Pier attraction, an interactive dinosaur safari experience complete with a 4D cinema.

To mark the opening, the pier planned something suitably spectacular: a fireworks extravaganza featuring dinosaur-themed music, lighting and lasers. MRL Productions was worked alongside Dynamic Fireworks to help create the soundtrack and visual production for the show.

The result was a display designed specifically around the Jurassic theme, rather than simply bolting a standard fireworks soundtrack onto the end of an event. That's something we enjoy about this kind of work.

The technical production has to support the story of the event. The music, lighting, lasers and fireworks all need to work together so that the audience experiences one show rather than a collection of separate effects. And when your brief involves dinosaurs taking over Clacton Pier, there's plenty of scope to have some fun with it.

The Jurassic Pier opening was another example of the sort of live event production we enjoy - taking an idea and turning it into something people can actually see, hear and experience.

Sometimes the best events need to finish with a bit of a bang.
